TC’s Treasures: June 2017

I am back with a new TC’s Treasures post. When I posted this in April, before my trips, I hadn’t had many favourites then. After my trips? My list of favourites went on a major expansion. From a tech gadget to Japanese and French beauty products to Japanese snacks to Japanese airline, this list just exploded. Do check out the things I have been loving! Let me know if you’ve tried any of my favourites. My next post will be about my Fukuoka trip. But first, my favourites!

Amazon Kindle Voyage

Amazon Kindle Voyage and Origami Cover Amazon Kindle Voyage

After three-plus years of using my first generation Kindle Paperwhite, I finally upgraded to a Kindle Voyage and the origami case. I bought this when the Voyage was $50.00 off for Prime members, and I applied my gift card balance of $169.69 to that and the case. The grand total? $40.29! I love it when I can make bargains like this. As for the Kindle Voyage and the case — I am really liking it. It’s a lot faster than my lagging Paperwhite, and the origami case is actually really useful. I doubted on the case, but it’s actually really good. I am happily reading on my new Kindle Voyage that I named “Rin”, which means “companion” according to Babynames.com. Very fitting since I use my Kindle almost daily.

Hada Labo Gokujyun Clear Lotion

Hada Labo Gokujyun Clear Lotion

I have been using this hydrating toner as my summer moisturiser, and it’s been working out really well for me. Not only is this solution light, it’s full of hyaluronic acid, which is a good thing for my face, and it doesn’t have a whole bunch of ingredients. Even better, that there is no scent, so my nose is happy to not breathe in overpowering scents that exist in some products.

Cure Natural Aqua Gel

Cure Natural Aqua Gel

This is the best exfoliator. Ever. It’s a gel you apply and massage on your face. In a few seconds, little balls of dead skin gunks are formed, and then you rinse them all off. My face feels so great afterwards. This has no rough micro-whatever found in scrubs, so this is perfect for those with sensitive skin. This is the holy grail of exfoliator for me!

L’Occitane Citrus Verbena Shampoo and Conditioner

L'Occitane Citrus Verbena Shampoo and Conditioner

When I stayed at my hotel in Hakodate, I chose the L’Occitane set. This is my first time using L’Occitane bath products. I love the citrusy scent, and the shampoo and conditioner really works well with my hair. I’m glad to have an extra set of these to use in the future!

Rokkatei Marusei Caramel

Marusei Caramel Bars

These crunchy caramels with soybeans are actually quite tasty. The tour guide I met took me to the Rokkatei dessert shop, and this was one of the sweets she recommended. It’s really nice. I like how it was actually not too sweet. The soybeans make them very interesting!

Rokkatei Marusei Butter Sand

Marusei Butter Sand

On the flip side, this sweets is a chocolate rum and raisin biscuit on crack. I kid you not. The buttery, creamy, chocolatey, liqueur-filled concoction in between the two soft biscuits is to die for. Of all the things I wished I’d bought more of in Hakodate, this was it. This was another sweets recommended by my tour guide. I want some more of these. Next time I go to Hokkaido, I’m buying me twenty boxes of these for myself and to share with my family and friends!

Calbee Jaga Pokkuru

Calbee Jaga Pokkuru

These potato sticks are also excellent. I don’t know what seasoning they use other than the salt from the Okhotsk region, but they are utterly delicious. I actually bought more of these back with me when I went to Fukuoka . . . haha! These are way better than any potato chips, and I like that these aren’t too salty!

Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory

Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory: Honey and Gorgonzola

My last snack favourite are these unusual honey and gorgonzola cheese chocolate (?!) biscuits. Chocolate or not, the honey and gorgonzola combination works for me. I was actually given a sample in the airport duty-free shop during my Hakodate trip. I bought some then and bought some more when I went to Fukuoka, haha!

All Nippon Airways

All Nippon Airways

Last, but not least, I’ll talk about my love for ANA. I really liked flying with them. The crew were so helpful and polite, both in and out of the aeroplane. Due to my adoration to them, I even signed up for the ANA Mileage Club programme, haha! I’ll definitely be flying as much as I can with them, along with Asiana since they are in the same alliance.

  1. Hi Tara :))

I’m happy to hear that you found some new treasures after your trips ;). Always good to be hustling for some new entertainment in life. I swear, you always get the best deals on Amazon. You practically got 75% off the Kindle Voyage! Hope you’ll enjoy using it :). Rin is a cute name. Totally perfect since it’ll be that companion that keeps you busy ;).

The toner sounds perfect for those who want something neutral on their face. I’ve seen some products that push out dead skin. Those micro things are pretty bad for the environment anyways. I’ve always passed by L’Occitane whenever I’m at the mall. It looks like a high-end brand XD.

The snacks look delish! Speaking of Hokkaido, I tried out the Hokkaido tea latte for the first time the other day. It’s so good!

Is there a difference between the potato sticks and french fries or are they the same thing with different ways to call them? I’ve never had them in a packaged snack form but I’m so curious. UGhhh I love gorgonzola cheese. When I went wine tasting, one of the wines had a pairing with the gorgonzola and some honey-like substance and it was great!!!!

I’m glad you had a great experience with ANA. With all of the crazy news about airlines these days, we need to narrow down on the legit airlines that we can rely on!

Thanks for sharing your faves of the month ;D

  2. Welcome back Tara! I hope you had a fun trip, I’m looking forward to seeing all the photos and the blog post re: trip ;) Glad you’ve made it back nice and safety!

Wow you should’ve seen my face as I was reading that discount hustle DANG. I wish I could find deals like that but I always suck at them, often missing out on those timed deals that my friends always manage to find! But WOOP go you! That looks like a nice shiny Kindle Voyage! :D I’m thinking of upgrading myself, but I don’t read as much as you so it would be questionable if I should.

I really like L’Occitane – I’ve tried a few of their samples before and loved the smell of them! Never invested and bought any though although I should! I always find it interesting reading your beauty/skin favourites – they never fail to make me want to invest in taking care of my skin a bit more.

I’m glad to hera that you’ve had a good time flying with ANA! I actually have enjoyed my EasyJet flights when i went around EU and am thinking of actually investing in their premium membership! Woop – more flights and adventures!

  3. Gosh – your Kindle was a bargain! How amazing! I’m glad you’re loving it! Rin is a wonderful name too, very apt!

The Cure Natural Aqua Gel sounds fantastic! I bought a product recently that says it does the same thing which I was dubious about, but after reading your glowing review I’m very excited to try it!

The food all looks delicious, particulaly the honey and cheese biscuits! It sounds like such an unusual combination, and not one that I’d have thought existed but they sound exciting.

  4. I’ve been really curious about the Kindle and thought of getting one for myself years ago. Instead, I got my two younger brothers Kindles which they never use -_- Glad you got the new one at a discounted rate though! Don’t you just love being a Prime member? :D

  5. I’m glad that you’ve found some new treasures to blog about.

I’m so glad that you’re enjoying your new Kindle Voyage. I still have an old Kindle Touch from all the way back in 2012. I still use it but not as much since I’m so busy with work and school.

I will definitely have to try those new skin products. I’m ready to buy the aqua gel right now.

Those potato sticks look delicious! My mouth is watering just thinking about them.

  6. Congrats on getting a great deal on your new Kindle, especially since you use it so much! Definitely worth every dollar! I’ve thought about buying a new Kindle, but I realized that I now only use the Kindle app on my phone. ^^;;

  7. The Cure Natural Aqua Gel looks really interesting! I’ve been looking into exfoliators because I went to a skin care clinic and they said I need to utilize a gel exfoliator because I guess scrub exfoliators aren’t good for my skin >.>

Potato Sticks? Are those just like fries? Or different? Because I LOVE fries LOL

I’m glad you enjoyed so many things after your trip! And that’s also awesome you had a great flight experience because I feel like that’s really important. Can’t wait to read about your Fukuoka experience!

I definitely want to try that exfoliater! My apricot scrub is good, but it’s coming down to its last few uses. Those snacks look good, especially the potatoes. Are they hard or soft because I imagine they’d be soggy if they were soggy french fries…

  9. I heard good things about ANA, too, but I choose to fly with a local airline – Cebu Pacific – instead because it’s cheaper. Haha. YAY FUKUOKA! So excited to see what you did there!
