TC’s Treasures: February 2017

It’s time for another round of TC’s Treasures! But first, take a moment to ask me some questions! I’ll be answering them in a future post. Anyway, back to my favourites — I didn’t think I was going to have a lot of them this month because I’d been doing my best to not buy anything because I really didn’t need anything . . . but then this sleeping mask and eye cream happened, and my best friend’s Christmas/birthday package came to me, so I ended up with a lot more favourite than I’d thought! I also ended up with a place as a favourite, haha! This month’s favourites are all over the place! Check them out!

Sulwhasoo’s Overnight Vitalizing Mask Ex

Sulwhasoo's Overnight Vitalizing Mask Ex

Jenny introduced me to Sulwhasoo’s Overnight Vialtizing Mask Ex. This is one of those brands I don’t usually touch because it’s far too luxurious for my wallet, but I saw that its price was reasonable ($35-50 USD), so I decided go give this sleeping pack a try. Oh, my goodness — this sleeping pack has quite impressed me! This leaves my face feeling super soft! The spicy ginger scent is also pleasant. Even better that a little goes a long way with this, so this will last me a while, making it worth the money. Unfortunately, I think Sulwhasoo retired this product :(

The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Eye Cream

The Body Shop's Vitamin E Cream

I saw this eye cream on a few blogs, and I’ve been wanting to try a new eye cream, so I bought this a couple of weeks ago. I am liking this eye cream a lot! It is really hydrating, leaves my eye area soft, and it absorbs quickly. I have to say I like this one a lot better than the eye cream from Lush!

Hask’s Monoi Coconut Oil Hair Care

Hask's Monoi Coconut Oil Shampoo and Conditioner

My best friend sent me a surprise package for Christmas and birthday. In the package were some beauty products. These shampoo and conditioner were one of them! I’ve never heard of Hask before, but I’m loving the fact that they are cruelty-free and their hair care product doesn’t have sulphates, parabens, and et cetera. Plus, their brand is actually pretty cheap compared to some other brands. The Monoi coconut oil line smells so tropical and coconut-y. My hair is definitely loving these products. My bestie chose well!

Organix’s Weightless Healing Dry Oil

Organix's Weightless Healing Dry Oil

Bestie also sent me this hair oil. Now I’ve gone completely natural, so my hair isn’t damaged. I still appreciate her sending me this, though! I love how this adds extra hydration and shine to my locks. This is a must for my hair care routine now!

Burt’s Bee’s Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm

Burt's Bees' Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm

Along with the hair care products, my best friend also sent me this lip balm. I’ve yet to use any Burt’s Bees product, so this is my introductory product to the brand. I really like this lip balm — way better than the Nivea one I’d been using.

Matsue, Japan

Root Letter - Matsue Root Letter - Matsue Root Letter - Matsue

In the latter half of January, I played and beat Root Letter, a visual novel game that takes place primarily in Matsue, Japan. The creators incorporated the real city of Matsue and its surrounding area into the game. They featured real shrines, patisseries, cafes, and other landmarks in the game. Hakuouki made me want to visit Kyoto and Hakodate. Yuri!!! on Ice makes me want to visit Karatsu. Now, I want to visit Matsue! I’ve fallen in love with the location, and I want to make a pilgrimage to the city. The game itself wasn’t the best I’ve played, but its city is calling my name!

Are you familiar with any of the my favourites? Have you used any of the beauty products? Is there a place you want to visit because of something you read, watch, or play? Share with me in the comments!

  1. I use moroccan oil on my hair sometimes! I don’t notice a huge difference but I also mostly use it when I am going to blow-dry my hair, to protect it from heat. I should probably use it more. 😄

The eye cream sounds good! Nothing worse than an eye cream that feels sticky and does not dry quickly. I haven’t heard of the other beauty products in your favourites though.

I’ve heard mixed reviews from Burts Bees and other butter-based balms. Some people have actually told me that Nivea is good! My friend suggested Carmex, which might be the next one I’ll try once I’ve finished my one from L’Occitane (which I have no real problem with).

  2. The body shop’s vitamin E eye cream is such a budget friendly option for eye cream imo. Other eye creams in the market are always so darn expensive! It works great as a base before makeup too! I also think the vitamin E eyes cube is a fun product to try on. It’s a stick though, not a cream and it absorbs instantly :)

I have heard a lot about sulwhasoo but never tried it since it’s too pricey imo. For some reason the organix product reminds me of shampoo and conditioner from OGX brand, probably due to the branding :P

I don’t think i have real locations that i want to experience because i got influenced by a video game. I mean, i want to visit some places like new york, japan and england but i don’t think it’s due to video game influences. Most places i wanna experience out of video games are fictional places so they don’t really count lol

  3. Oh wow Sulwhasoo! I also avoid buying anything from them just because they’re so expensive, haha. I’ve only tried one sleeping mask before and I’ve been wanting to try other brands so maybe I’ll splurge on this one when I have the money!

And I’ve never heard of Hask either but cruelty free products are always great! I think a lot of the time we don’t think about where our ingredients come from and it’s always a bonus to use products that you know are cruelty free.

  4. Yay!! So glad you liked the sleeping mask, but ugh, I can’t believe they’re discontinuing this. Or rather, they’ve conveniently released a new mask that’s almost double the price at $80. Not cool.

Do you know if the vitamin e line helps with puffiness? I feel like a purely hydrating eye cream just isn’t cutting it for me anymore, ahh, the woes of getting old!

I don’t think I’ve ever been inspired by a book or movie to visit any particular place. Maybe Crotia because of Game of Thrones, but that’s it, haha

  5. Oh I have that argan oil! As well as other ones from that brand! Love them!

Also have the lip balm. Its not too bad, though not my favorite. Though I do love some of their other ones!

  6. I was never a big fan of Burt’s Bees lip balm. It worked well enough for its purpose, but I thought It had an off kind of texture and taste. However, it might just have been the kind I bought so this makes me want to try out the lip conditioning one!

I’ve not heard of it before, but Root Letter looks like a beautiful game! I love it when games can truly honor the setting that it’s taking place in. I want to visit pretty much everything that I read about or watch. I’ve really been wanting to visit New Zealand lately because of the LOTR books haha.

  7. I use argan oil on my hair, but the same brand. I like some of the Organix line.
Burts Bees lip conditioner is ALWAYS in my bag.
Japan is somewhere I plan on visiting around this time next year, and I am hoping on spending about 2 weeks there and visiting as much as I possibly can withing those two weeks! Sadly that won’t even be possible until next year though.

  8. Oooh! The Sulwahsoo’s mask feels really good! I love how you don’t need to use a lot of cream to cover your mask. You’re not kidding when you said a little drop goes a long way! For the price, you get a lot of uses!

I need to check out this eye cream some day mostly for the black circles. I look like a zombie when I sleep for less than 6 hours @___@. I love the price of the Hask conditioner and shampoo! I also need to drag myself to the beauty shop one of these days ;).

The graphics in Root Letter looks really nice! It makes me feel like I need to get myself to Japan one of these days ;). I always wanted to visit Japan because I love sushi XD.

  9. Oooh I’m familiar with Organix but not with their weightless healing dry oil. This might just be the thing my hair needs this winter! I’ll have to check it out the next time I’m at the store. XD
