The past few weeks have been crazy for me. I’ve encountered a ton of stress and negativity offline. From my job change to encountering new environment and procedures, it’s been a really difficult period. I almost chose a gloomy Beethoven piece, but I realised I wanted something more upbeat and uplifting. It didn’t take me that long to pick out a positive piece for this month’s Symphonic Selections post. I hope you’ll enjoy this piece! I know I’m already feeling a lot happier!
“Gassenhauer” by Carl Orff is one of my favourite instrumental pieces. It’s a short piece that builds up to a strong ending, but it has that whimsical feel to the whole song, and it makes me feel bouncy and cheerful. I first heard this in Finding Forrester, and I remember being hooked by it and had to look it up immediately. Orff’s more known for his “O Fortuna” piece, but I much prefer “Gassenhauer”, which has become one of my go-to happy songs.
Do you like this piece? Have you heard it before? What do you think? Let me know in the comments!
