My Favourite Things: July 2016

My Favourite Things is a precursor to TC’s Treasures. Starting in November 2016, all My Favourite Things posts will be known as TC’s Treasures.

My Favourite Things (Original Image from

It’s the day after July 4th (Happy Independence Day, USA!), which makes it the first Tuesday of the month. It’s time to do Raisa and Eirene’s wonderful link-up, My Favourite Things. June’s been monotonous for me, but I still managed to discover some new favourites that are skincare, hair, and shower-based. With that said, here are my favourites!

Lush’s Dirty Springwash Shower Gel

Lush's Dirty Springwash Shower Gel

With my huge love for the Dirty bodyspray, I decided to give the Dirty Springwash shower gel a try, and I love it. I’m normally not a shower gel person, but I’ve been incorporating this at least once a week, and it’s been working out. The scent is very minty, and it really suits me. A little goes a long way with this gel!

Lush’s Jersey Bounce Shampoo

Lush's Jersey Bounce Shampoo

I’d been wanting to try a sea salt shampoo, but Big’s scent was off-putting! But then Jersey Bounce finally came to Korea, and its scent smelt way better! I am loving this shampoo a lot! It smells like lemon, the sea salt feels invigorating on my head, and it leaves my hair soft and full of volume! I originally wanted to buy a small container of this, but that was out of stock, so I bought the bigger one, which works out better for me.

Lush’s Veganese Conditioner

Lush's Veganese Conditioner

Along with Jersey Bounce, I’ve been using Veganese to give my hair the bounce and softness. I was curious to try a conditioner that didn’t have lanolin and silicone, which led me to try Veganese. I wasn’t too keen on the scent at first, but it grew on me. Plus, I do like how it leaves my hair soft. It really does pair well with Jersey Bounce!

Benton’s Fermentation Eye Cream

Benton's Fermentation Eye Cream

I finished up my Nature Republic eye cream, so I am finally able to try this Fermentation Eye Cream from Benton! For one, I’m loving the tube application — it gives me better control over the amount and it’s way more sanitary than dipping my finger into a jar or container. I also like the actual cream, for it spreads nicely; there’s no scent, so that’s also a plus! Its consistency is also thicker than the other eye creams I’ve tried, but I find that it absorbs quicker than the ones I’ve used before. It’s a good eye cream, and I’m loving it!

Have you tried any of the above products? What shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and eye cream do you like? Share with me in the comments!

  1. They sounds like really good products and I am glad you are enjoying them! It can be hard to find something that you like, especially with so many different ingredients and scents.

  2. I tried Lush products before but I just felt like they were sometimes over priced and didn’t actually do anything for my skin/hair. On the other hand, my friends think they’re great and they always rave about their hair products especially hair masks. I think I might give them another go, perhaps longer because I know sometimes it takes a while to see the effect but you have to be consistent :P

I haven’t tried Lush shower gel, but I have always had shower gels growing up mostly from those gift sets people got me for Christmas. But I just love how much cleaner I feel and the smell – don’t get be started lol

I’m glad Lush products are working for you and that eye cream too! I tried eye cream before to help with dark circles but I’ve never seen results :(

    • Yes, consistency helps to see full results XD

The dark circles, I read, is mostly tied to genetics or something (of course, what I read wrong could be inaccurate), so trying to lighten them is futile. I just leave mine alone LOL I apply eye cream to prevent wrinkles LOL

  3. people who live in a country where there is Lush are just so lucky! ugh. there used to be a Lush store here but it died for whatever reason. I didn’t get to try anything either because I didn’t know Lush did opened a store once here. sigh. I’m really curious about their products, especially their famous ocean salt shower scrubs and mask of magnamity! i always browse through Lush’s website only to stare at all those interesting products, sobs. have I mentioned how much I love their packaging…

I’m actually curious about the BIG Shampoo since I’m all about voluminous hair. I wonder how the scent is, hm… speaking of, I see that Lush still uses SLS in their products which I don’t mind if it’s for shampoo, tbh but having them silicone-free is pretty good. as expected, it’s so hard to find a silicone AND SLS-free hair products…the only one I know that makes sulfate free shampoos is body shop haha

I really, really hate products that come in a jar! ugh. it’s so icky to use our fingers to get the product ugh so unclean. this is why I personally dislike lip balms that come in jars but sometimes I have to bear that. Eye creams in a jar looks like they contain more products though but at the same time, it’s annoying to have to dip our fingers in.

I’ve never tried Benton’s eye cream and tbh, I’ve never seen Benton here. does it reduces the look of dark circles? I find whitening / brightening eye creams as extremely expensive and that the moisturizing one is a lot cheaper.

My favorite shampoo and conditioner are the Shiseido Tsubaki and Kracie’s Ichikami. the Ichikami one is SLS and silicone free and they’re good for damaged hair imo :)
So far, the only eye creams I have ever tried are tonymoly’s AC Control whitening eye serum and the body shop’s vitamin E eye cream and I prefer the latter so yea.

    • I don’t believe in those brightening/lightening eye cream. I just use eye creams to prevent wrinkles. The dark circles under my eyes doesn’t bother me.

Benton is still fairly new and is only available through online vendors in Korean and certain vendors overseas.

I do hope Lush opens back up for your area. I can’t say I am fond of the Ocean Salt Scrub (it smells great, but you need to use a lot for a full body scrub!), but I am liking its other products.

  4. Wow, looks like all good stuff. I have never tried anything like that but it is intriguing me too. I’m such a makeup and hair product junkie lol

  5. I’ve never tried any of these products before but they sound like they work really well

I mainly use garnier fructis for my hair. It works well and it keeps my hair looking lively.

But I’ll definitely have to look into these

    • I tried Garnier Fructis before, but I stopped using them XD I’m glad it works well for you!

  6. I want that Jersey Bounce shampoo! Really tempted to go out and buy it now. Even though I bought some Herbal Essences cranberry shampoo yesterday (which smells amazing). I used to have so much volume back when I was 18, and now my hair just looks rubbish.

Up until recently, I haven’t been into shampoo or hair products, but now I’m really wanting to try some. My sister keeps buying some lovely hair products, and every time she shows me them I’m so jealous. Definitely going to be investing in some stuff!

    • Ooooh! If you try the Jersey Bounce shampoo, I hope you’ll like it. I say it won’t hurt to invest and try some new stuff XD Just don’t go overboard, haha!

  7. Oh, wow! That’s a lot of LUSH products! Interesting, interesting. :D

    • Yeah, Lush has been my go-to stuff for body products XD;;; I admit to being addicted.

  8. I’m not a shower gel person either, unless I have the scrubby thing to make it foamy XD. If I find some kind of sandy body wash at Lush, I would give that a try!

At first, I thought the Jersey Bounce was that jello-like substance XD. Good to hear that this sizing worked out for you! :). The veganese conditioner looks like it does the job. Gah, this makes me want to toss my Herbal Essence hair wash to the side to try Lush’s stuff XD.

The eye cream reminds me of the one I use from Clinique (once in a while…). I haven’t tried any of the products above before. Though, I’m more of a Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy (Stress Relief) kinda person XD. I looOOooove the smell of eucalyptus spearmint @___@

    • That sounds so good — the eucalyptus spearmint! I should find that and take a sniff of it.

Sandstone from Lush is so scrubby! But it’s not foamy at all, so I just use that to scrub and exfoliate my body once a week or so XD

  9. You might think that I live under a rock but I haven’t heard of any of these items yet. Haha. Probably because they’re not available in my country. Seems nice to try though.

  10. Jersey Bounce sounds like a great product! I really love Lush products, but I’m always so nervous when I go in. The shop assistants are very helpful, but they do seem a little…pushy. Everything smells so lovely there though – and it’s great to hear that the products are working so well for you!
I’m currently using Davines Oi shampoo and conditioner. It makes my hair very shiny, but it doesn’t smell good at all!

    • I don’t know that shampoo and conditioner! Sucks it doesn’t smell nice.

I hear you about pushy salesperson. I don’t care for them much, either.

  11. I’m glad you found some new favorites to use! I’m definitely more of a shower gel person, especially ones with nice scents. I didn’t know about sea salt shampoo though. That looks interesting!

I don’t use eye cream, but I’m currently trying a shampoo and conditioner set by TRESemme. I like it so far!

    • Yes :) Sea salt shampoos are pretty neat. I love them now, haha! XD

  12. I love Lush! Thanks for sharing all these! I love all the materials they use to make their products. I’ve gotten a shower gel from them once but we had to shake it every time we used it because the materials would separate from each other lol. It was very interesting (but smelled really good)!

    • Yeah, I can see why you’d need to shake them. I did that with Rehab the shampoo XD I hope you’ll get to try them a bit more ^_^

  13. Adrianne on

I’ve never used Lush products before, despite that there’s a Lush store quite close to where I live. I’m more of a DHC and the Body Shop type of person. But thank you for the introduction to some of your favorite Lush products. I’m interested in the springwash and the Jersey Bounce. I need to remind myself to stop by my local Lush to check the products out. ^_^

  14. Wow! I haven’t heard of any of these products. For my hair i only use a shampoo and conditioner by Dove. Do you get Dove products?
i want to try a sea salt spray for styling my hair though :D

  15. I don’t know what to think of Lush products. There are a lot I’d like to try, but it’s not really feasible right now. The only thing I’ve tried are their Toothy Tabs, which I don’t know if I’ll buy again because I don’t feel like I got any results that they swore I’d get. And I don’t like bath bombs either. Still, their products do smell quite nice and have me curious! I’m down to try any shampoo and conditioner at least once :D

    • I am not into baths, so no bath bombs for me! See if you can get some sample of their shampoo and conditioner :)

  16. I haven’t tried any of the products above, but once I finish my current stash of products, I’ll give them a try. It also doesn’t help that I’m constantly using the complementary hotel shampoo during the week. Free Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner…can’t turn that down…

I’ve been so bad about using eye cream! I have a bunch now after my trip to Seoul too. Must remember to use them!

    • Use them! Those eye cream will help in the long run :D And nothing wrong with using complimentary shampoo and conditioner! :D Especially if they’re good ones! ^_^

  17. Jersey Bounce sounds really interesting! I have to be careful with shampoos that might fade my color, but I really wanna give that one a try. :D

    • Well, maybe give it a try when your hair isn’t coloured? :D Let me know how you like it!
