My Favourite Things is a precursor to TC’s Treasures. Starting in November 2016, all My Favourite Things posts will be known as TC’s Treasures.
First Tuesday of the month means it’s time to do Raisa and Eirene’s wonderful link-up, My Favourite Things. May’s been a crazy busy month, but I still found time to discover new favourites. From books to skincare products to films and music, I’ve been exposed to a variety of new things. I hope to discover more in June! With that said, here are my favourites!
Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods & Heroes
I finally took the time to read Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods and Percy Jackson’s Greek Heroes. Like the previous Percy Jackson books, I had a blast reading these. The modern references, for the most part, cracked me up. Percy’s narrative just brings a huge smile to my face, and I find that his take on the Ancient Greek mythology was pure fun. Oh, and his snarky comments in the narration? Absolutely brilliant. He even states his opinions on how he found the plots all messed up. All that combined just added for a fantastic reading experience. If you’ve read Percy Jackson and the Olympians, I recommend these companion books!
Benton’s Snail Bee High Content Essence
I switched up my skincare routine a bit because of summer. The moisturiser I currently use doesn’t leave my skin feeling as soft as my heavier one did, so I tried using the Benton’s Snail Bee High Content Essence in my routine, and that left my skin feeling so soft! This is the first essence I incorporated into my skincare regime, and I find myself really liking it a lot. Even better that it hardly has any scent, and it doesn’t have a lot of the crazy chemicals I don’t like!
“The Hanging Tree”
I finally sat my butt down to watch the rest of The Hunger Games films. I’d only seen the first one, but not the rest. Of all the songs and scenes, this is my favourite. I really like this song because it’s beautiful in an understated way. It starts off with Jennifer Lawrence singing this a capella and then the orchestra and choir comes in, combining with the scene where District 5 residents march on to explode the dam while singing the song . . . just, damn. It left a powerful impact on me. This is the true power of music, and I was surprised to find it in the third film.
When I read The Hunger Games books, I found myself really liking Johanna Mason. In real life, I’d not like her, but I really do admire her gutsy and snarky personality. In fact, Johanna is one of the reasons that made the second film brilliant. Jena Malone’s portrayal surprised and impressed me to where Malone is Johanna. I absolutely adore her to the point that I was pissed that she wasn’t really in the last two films!
Lastly, FINNICK ODAIR. Holy snap. I liked him in the books, but I never really quite pictured him in my head until I saw Sam Claflin as Finnick and asdfjkll;asdfjk; I’ll be shameless and say that he’s HOT. Holy cow. Like, whoah! I know he’s supposed to be eye candy, but I didn’t think I’d be totally smittened by his looks. Of course, it helps that he has an awesome personality as well. But guhhhh! Finnick Odair is my new love, and he’s taken over my desktop wallpaper. Sorry, Fili and Kili, but Finnick Odair is who I want to stare at for a long time!
Have you read or watched any of my favourites this month? Who’re your favourite characters from The Hunger Games franchise? Have you tried Benton’s Snail Bee High Content Essence? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
