It’s almost the end of May. Time sure flies by. I can’t believe it’s already time to do another Blogger Dossiers post! I asked Cat if she’d like to be featured. Cat and I go way back! Our mutual love for animes, mangas, video games, and blogging brought us together. Get to know Cat better with this post, and do follow her on Twitter and Instagram!
Hello, I’m Cat, someone who likes food, turtles, and cute things more than she should. During the day, I am a software developer and manager, but during my free time, I like to work on my hobbies like photography, cosplay, and video games. I’ve been making websites since 1999, back when animated GIFs, glitter graphics, and repeating backgrounds were all the rage. My sites have changed over the years, but I still call Shattered Wings my internet home, and Silent White is where I ramble.
One of my favorite memories is my second trip to China in 2004. Most of my family on my dad’s side went at the same time (from the US), and we met up in my parents’ hometown. It was fun to hang out with my cousins, and we saw both my mom’s and my dad’s old houses! (They grew up in the same city but different villages.) Hard to believe, but my family on both sides still own the house they grew up in. Some of their belongings were still inside too, which I thought was amazing. It was a look into the past that I was not expecting.
“Somewhere Only We Know” is a long time favorite that I never get tired of, and it’s a very comforting song to me.

What is your absolute favourite cosplay outfit and experience so far?
My favorite outfit and experience are actually two different ones! My favorite cosplay is Zia from Bastion because I love the design of the costume, and I’m a big fan of Supergiant Games. My favorite experience was cosplaying from Spirited Away. I made a Haku costume for myself and Chihiro and No Face costumes for my friends. No Face really stood out (I added height to the costume), so we kept getting stopped for photos!
What is one video game you can play over and over again and why?
Minecraft. Sometimes I get on just to mindlessly mine new materials; there’s something relaxing about it. It’s also easy for me to spend hours exploring the world or building something in the game. Plus, every major update Minecraft has makes me interested in it again!
If you had to eat only three things for the rest of your life, what are they and why?
There’s a few things I never get tired of. Pizza, to cover the unhealthy/guilty cravings. Rice bowls because they’re simple, filling, and depending on the toppings, can be healthy. Lastly, ramen because I need a big bowl of broth and noodles in my life.
Which do you prefer: anime or manga and why?
I often prefer manga because in most cases, it’s the original, and the anime tends to change things. I can also get through more story in the manga in a shorter time than watching the anime. Though lately, I’ve been watching anime more thanks to Crunchyroll.
Where is your next overseas travel destination? What are some of the things you would like to see and do there?
I’m actually going to Japan again! My trip is booked already, and we’re going to be there during festival season. The most notable one we’ll be going to is the Tanabata Festival in Sendai. We’re spending half of the time in the Tohoku region and the other half in Tokyo. I also plan on cosplaying in Japan again. As who and where? That is a secret for now!
