2015 Book Meme

2015 is almost coming to an end. This year, I didn’t read as much books and mangas I did the last two years. This year, I spent most of my time reading fanfics or re-reading fanfics I just couldn’t get enough of. I ended up reading 50 books and mangas and 11 volumes of scanslations. And this is the year where I spent most of my time catching up on The Baby-Sitters Club books I haven’t read . . . but I did still read some other books, so I’m still going to do the book meme I’ve done the last two years.

Best Book of 2015
The Heroes of Olympus books nabbed this for me. I only wished I’d read them earlier!

Worst Book of 2015
I didn’t really have a worst book, so to say, but the mangas that I really disliked the most are both volumes of The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window.

Most Disappointing Book of 2015
A Conspiracy Of Decency: The Rescue Of The Danish Jews During World War II disappointed me the most. It was a decent book, but it just wasn’t what I was expecting.

Most Surprising (in a good way) Book of 2015
Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes surprised me a lot. This short children’s book was heart-wrenching and inspiring for me.

Book You Recommended to People Most in 2015
The Heroes of Olympus series take this. I find myself really enjoying this, so naturally I want to recommend it to other people as well :D

The Heroes of Olympus series, hands down.

Book You Most Anticipated in 2015
The only one that comes into my mind is Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer, but knowing me I won’t read it until the rest of the series is completed.

Favourite Cover of a Book You Read in 2015
Like last year, I’ll have to pass this since I really don’t judge a book cover . . .

Most Memorable Character in 2015
Nico, Frank, and Jason from The Heroes of Olympus.

The Heroes of Olympus and The Baby-Sitters Club series, haha.

Book You Can’t Believe You Waited Until 2015 to Finally Read
Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. Seriously, why did I wait this long to read such a short book?!

Comments

  1. I read Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes when I was in elementary and I remember that book making me emotional. It was a great read, and I would probably cry if I read it today.

You’ve definitely done a lot of reading this year compared to me. LOL. :D I’m hoping to use my Kindle more in the year to come.

    • I hope you’ll read a lot more in 2016! I know my Kindle allowed me to read a lot more than before! :D

  2. Even though you didn’t read as much “book-books”, you still read plenty of fanfictions :D. 50 is still an impressive number! It sounds like The Heroes of Olympus and Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes are the two ~best~ books that you read this year. I think I found my recommendation for a book to buy for my boyfriend XD. I’ve read books that had interesting covers with a bad storyline. Covers shouldn’t mean anything besides stating the title/author.

    • Yeah, if I take into consideration of every fanfic I read or re-read, I think it would have equalled to about 300 books or so XD; So I have read a lot — just not many “books” this year!

And yes to the covers. I like nice covers, but judging a book by its cover never works!

  3. I think I only read one fiction book this year, which was Sabriel. :’) I’m probably better off doing this meme with games. 8D

  4. BOOKS! OMG you finished 50 this year, really congratulations!! I used to do 50 as well but work got in the way and this year made up for last year and I only did 20 books. Am glad for some progress and maybe next year, I could go back to 50.

Can I please also use your book meme? Also didn’t know about Goodreads’ year in books, so cool! :) Followed you if you don’t mind.

Cheers to more reading in 2016!

    • Last year I read 120ish and the year before 100 XD; So I feel that I haven’t read as much this year, but I’m all right with it :)

I hope you’ll read 50 books next year!

As for the meme — go ahead! ^^ Feel free to do it!

  5. Now I should check out The Heroes of Olympus. And kudos for reading 50 books. Unlike me, I only finished one book this 2015.

    • One book is still good :) I hope you’ll enjoy The Heroes of Olympus if you do read it!

  6. I feel really upset and disappointed with myself not knowing ANY of these books. I used to read anime/manga/comics/books a lot and usually just stick to those whenever I do fancy a new read, but this year I have set a goal of read at least 5 books that aren’t related to my studies and I have. Ready Player One is amazing and you should read it!

Kia’s book is definitely amazing! I’ve recommended it to most of my friends!

    • Aw, don’t worry about not knowing these books ^^ There are so many books I don’t know about either. It’s really hard to keep up to date on so many things.

Ready Player One sounds neat! I’ll have to look into it :D

  7. Yay reading! I love reading! =3

I never really got into the Babysitters Club. I got into the little sister’s one though. Gosh, I used to have DOZENS of those.

  8. You read heaps! More than double me at least :P Do you mind if I use this format on my blog too? I was going to do something a bit different but this includes things a lot more nicely.

  9. Wow, that’s still a lot of books and manga! I don’t think I read any fictional books this year, other than manga =/ I remember reading Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes when I was young. In middle school, we found out one of our classmates had cancer, so we folded 1000 paper cranes for her!

    • Aw! That’s a real nice gesture you guys did in middle school. I love it when books impact society like that! :D

And mangas are a type of book, so they count XD

  10. Aw, Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes is definitely beloved book from elementary school. And it sounds like I need to try the Heroes of Olympus series. Ah this is such a great blog meme! Maybe I’ll try it next year when I read more books.

    • I hope you’ll get to read a lot :D And feel free to do this meme! I got it off somewhere else as well XD

  11. Sometimes you just have to read what you really like the most, because it is after-all, something to be enjoyed. :D

Thank you so much for considering my book for the Most Beautifully Written Book in 2015, that is such an hour. *a million hugs*
