Korean Skincare Regime Aftermath

Korean Skincare Regime Aftermath Header

In October, Edward Avila helped me come up with a personalised skincare regime. He personally recommended me the products and explained how I should use them in the morning and at night. Read on to see what my skincare regime consists of and how it has affected me in the last two months.

My Skincare Regime

Innisfree Calming Gel Cleanser with Dandelion and Green Complex and Blackberry Facial Mask

For my facial cleanser, I’ve been using the Innisfree Calming Gel Cleanser with Dandelion and Green Complex. I wet my face and then squeeze out a nickel-sized amount, and I lather it up. It doesn’t get as foamy as some other brands, but that’s fine. I massage the cleanser onto my face, and then I rinse with warm water.

At night, if I applied sunscreen, I clean my face “twice”. The first is to lather and massage the cleanser with dry hands and then apply on my dry face to help remove the sunscreen. I rinse that off, and then I lather up and massage my face like I would in the morning.

Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner

After I pat my face dry with a towel, I then move onto the toner, the Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner. I pump the toner two or three times onto a cotton pad, and then I apply it all over my face, patting it dry afterwards.

Skin Food Black Sugar Perfect First Serum 2X Essential

Next is the serum/essence, the Skin Food Black Sugar Perfect First Serum 2X Essential. This is pure liquid, so I pour out three or four drops onto my palm and then rub my hands together once and then pat the serum all over my face until dry.

Skin Food Stash

After the serum, it’s time for the Super Berry Multi Eye Cream from Skin Food! I dip the pad of my ring finger to get a little bit and rub the cream onto the other ring finger. Then I dab and pat the eye cream under my eyes and along its sides. I also apply a bit around the corner of my mouth, as well.

Nature Republic Stash

For the moisturiser, I use the Super Aqua Max Cream from Nature Republic. I get a quarter-sized amount and then I apply, massage, and pat it on my face.

Missha All-Around Safe Block Essence Sun 45SPF

My last step in my morning regime is to apply the Missha All-Around Safe Block Essence. I squeeze out a nickel-sized amount, and then apply it like I do with the aforementioned moisturiser.

Skin Food Stash

Finally, I exfoliate my face once a week (usually during the weekend) with the Black Sugar Mask Washoff from Skin Food. After I clean my face, I pat my face dry with a towel once, but I do not fully dry it. Then I scoop up about a teaspoon amount and then I rub and massage the scrub all over my face (minus my eyes and lips), and I leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Then I rinse off with warm water!

Oh, and I also dab some tea tree oil on my pimples when they pop up. I find that essential oil to really help with my acne issues!

My Thoughts

I will be honest in that I was pretty sceptical about this regime at first. Not to mention, I thought it’d take forever to do it every morning and night. Not so! Once I got the routine down pat, it now takes me about 7 minutes to do everything. Plus, I do feel that my face has gotten a lot better. It feels much softer than before, and while I still do have the occasional pimples, I haven’t broken out as much as before.

I am not certain on the effectiveness of the eye cream. Eddy insists that the lines under my eyes are my laugh lines, but I am not quite convinced about that! Once I finish that monster tub of eye cream, I plan to try something else. I also want to try the Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner, but we’ll see. I do like the current toner I’m using! I formerly used a Neutrogena astringent, which always stung my face, so the Etude House one’s way better for me! All in all, I’m happy with my current inventory.

One final thing I wanted to mention — I’m surprised that these products have lasted me two months and am still going strong! I thought I’d run out of certain products by the end of November, but that’s not the case at all! It’s great that these things are lasting me a while since that means I don’t have to purchase skincare products so often! That’s definitely friendlier on my bank account!

  1. I find the complete Korean skin regimen a bit tedious since I read somewhere that the face alone requires 5 or 7 different products (the number varies as I go from article to article) and steps. Someone should come up with one product that does it all! Haha though I doubt I’d buy that because I’m in advertising and I know it’s never real.

Anyway, I’m in love with Korean beauty masks! The ones from Etude House are cheap and their effects are immediate. :)

    • I can’t seem to get into the whole sheet masks X_X; I’ll do the mask wash off, but not that! Glad those work with you, though! ^_^ That’s always a good thing.

  2. That seems like a lot of things to do! That’s nice that it doesn’t actually take that long though. I’m glad you’ve been seeing good results from it too! It feels really good when you find something that works for you! I’m often surprised by how long skin products can last. I guess you only need to use a bit at a time :)

    • Yeah, it’s great that they are lasting a while! That’s a good thing because I don’t have to replenish my supply so often!

  3. Very interesting post. I stare for a long time in the Korean cosmetics, but can not dare to buy. You have convinced me still try.

  4. I heard that foam is only for looks and doesn’t really make a difference when it comes to cleaning? I’m not sure, but I do agree with the claim because I like it when there are a lot of foam XD. The toner looks like a heavy duty solution with all of the things it does! This does sound like a lot to do for a clean face, but I think it’s worth it and I’m glad to hear that it’s beneficial for you. I get lazy sometimes, but at the end of the day, you’ll have awesome skin! Kudos to Eddy for making your wallet and face happier :).

    • Yeah, I don’t think it really matters with cleaning when it comes to foam. I have to remind myself that often because foam is really for appearance only XD

  5. Oh Goodness, I was getting a little tired there by the time we got to product #5. It’s a little a lot but if the results is what you’re expecting, I am thinking I need to get myself on a regime as well; I looked closely at my face today and oh wow.. it isn’t looking very good and looks like I have ha tons of brown spot popping up all over the place… makes me want to cry. So thanks so much for this review, it gives me a starting point!

    • Yeah it is a lot to take in at first, and even I was all overwhelmed by it. But it got easier as time went on! ^^

  6. I finally got around to reading after I sent you that message on Kakao! I might just buy everything here haha. I’ve been trying to figure out a list of Korean items to buy and try because of everything I’ve read/heard. I’m glad that for the most part, it’s worked out well for you too!

    • Let me know what you end up getting and using! I’d love to hear your thoughts on the Korean beauty products :3

  7. Wow it does seem like a lot, but I’m sure it takes less time the more you use it. Makes me curious about em!

And its amazing how long some stuff can last, especially when they’re in tiny containers! Yay for lasting longer!

    • Yes, I’m glad they are lasting a good while! ^^ That’s always good because it helps me not buy the products so often!

  8. It’s great that you have noticed a difference and that it doesn’t take a really long time to do it all. :D Hopefully you will find a different eye cream that you like and might be more effective. I am sure that your skin will really thank you for doing this. :D

  9. I’m always interested in reading about how people take care of their skin. You’re right that the whole process doesn’t take too long but I always wake up last minute and only have time to get ready in like ten minutes lol.

Also, I heard a lot of great things about the Wonder Pore toner that you’ve been using!

    • HAHA! I’m the same way, too! I usually never wake up on time, and it’s all RUSH RUSH RUSH in the morning for me, haha! XD;

Oooh! If you try out the toner, let me know what you think! ^^

  10. I’ve been reading about the Korean skin care regimen left and right and I’ve been wanting to give it a try. But there are so many terms and products and it’s all confusing me (emulsions, serum, etc.)
I think I definitely need to start with it though. I’ve got big pores and dull skin.

    • It is super overwhelming if you’re getting into it. I still don’t get a lot of stuff, so yeah . . . LOL. I’m just glad I have friends that can help me out with these stuff!

  11. I just looked this guy up and WOW he has nice skin. I wish he could personalize my regimen for me too! But I don’t know how well I stick to it, I’m so tired most of the time I break my own skincare routine on a daily basis. That reminds me, I need to get back onto it ASAP now that grad school will never be as intense as the past year again! Glad to read that you definitely saw an improvement in skin, because skin is the basic of feeling great. ^_^ Also it’s a bonus that you are careful about using your products so they can last you plenty of time. Skincare is NOT cheap!!

    • Skincare is definitely not cheap! I’m really thankful to Eddy for teaching and guiding me XD If it weren’t for him, I’d be totally lost about all this!

  12. ah, innisfree. i’ve heard good things about them but they’re only available from online purchase here.

i almost, almost bought the etude house wonderpore but they’re expensive and so i thought i wouldn’t want to risk my budget for something that probably won’t work. the reason why i said that is i’ve invested in other etude house skincare products and they don’t really work on me – the sheet masks, the eye cream, etc. i think it’s also why i don’t really want to try korean skincare products anymore…. though i did buy tonymoly’s appletox honey cream because i wanted to give it a try. i’m currently using hada labo’s lotion as my toner…. idk why but i have sensitive combination skin and water-based products – which is something japanese skincare products tend to boast about – seem to work better.

i don’t use serum and i’m also afraid that i’m going to overdo my face. i don’t even use moisturizer daily, just sometimes if my face gets too dry (because my face wash is for oil control and acne prevention) and i exfoliate using hada labo’s aha bha peeling face wash. it’s really hard when the only oily part on my face is my T-zone and it’s also the only place where my zits grow. geebuz.

    • Everyone’s different, so do what works for you :) Skincare is expensive so it is wise to invest in products that will work for you. No point when it doesn’t!
