It’s the first Tuesday of a new month! It’s time to do Raisa and Eirene’s wonderful link-up, My Favourite Things. My post for this month is kind of random since I jumped around with my interests this month. Enjoy my favourites for October!

The Heroes of Olympus Series

Heroes of Olympus

I finally got around to reading The Heroes of Olympus books by Rick Riordan. I read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series in August 2013, so I was overdue to read its sequel. The sequel took about a week and a half to complete. I enjoyed it, and I loved how Riordan expanded its universe. The new characters were awesome. I’m forever Team Leo, Nico, Reyna, and Frank. Bob and Damasen also won me over. The way Riordan wove in the Roman mythology with the Greek worked beautifully.

All in all, it was a solid series, but not as amazing as its prequel. However, it was good enough to where I devoured the books and became hooked on its fanfics! Thanks to this series, I’m now re-reading the first series!

Amnesia: Memories

Amnesia: Memories

Amnesia: Memories is an otome game for the PC and PlayStation Vita. Raisa started playing it and she influenced me to get the game. I played through one good route so far — Shin’s route — and I am having a blast with all the bishounens, haha! I can’t wait to play the other routes and get all the trophies!

Hot Dried Pork

Vegas 808 Hot Dried Pork

Raisa picked these awesome pork jerky for me when she went to Las Vegas, and I finally got them. I love these jerky so much! I wish I could order these online, but they are only available at their physical store :( If you’re ever in Las Vegas, check out Vegas 808 at the California Hotel!

Ardium 2016 Stash

Ardium 2016 Calendar and Planner Stash

Ardium, my favourite Korean stationery brand, released their new planners and calendars. I ordered a bunch of their products for myself and a couple of friends from Gmarket. I absolutely adore Ardium products!

The Return of the Sucker Fish

Sucker Fishes

Back in April, I featured the huge sucker fish at my workplace. Well, this time I was able to see the little sucker fish, and I happened to see the two of them sucking away at the same time, and I just had to take a photo of them. It’s like watching the baby fish copying the daddy/mummy fish. This is my new favourite thing to do at work when I need a break — watching these two sucker fishes in action!

Comments

  1. TEAM KENT!! XD I’m gonna do Toma’s route next. Now that I’m pretty much done with Dragon Age, I can go back to Amnesia. :D And pick up a few more otoge titles too.

I’m happy to send you more hot dried pork when I go to Vegas again! <3 Next year probably, haha.

    • Aw! Thanks, Raisa! If it’s not an inconvenience, I’d definitely appreciate that! ^^

  2. This post is adorable! I think I’m going to try this linkup this month! I’ve been putting it on my to-do list for ages.

Oh my when you posted a book series I felt a pang of nostalgia because the last time I poured my heart into books was 10 years ago. XD Do visuals novels count as books? Because I’ll totally play Amnesia. After Final Fantasy X.

I didn’t have hot dry pork when I visited Vegas but perhaps next time! It sounds awfully good and I’m not a fan of dark meat.

Those notebooks and calendars are so adorable, as adorable as the pair of fishies. It looks like it’s just sucking the glass haha. Where did the little one come from?

    • I hope you’ll join up!

I do see visual novels as a type of books, so they do count, haha!

The little sucker fish was always there, but I could never see it. We had our fish tank recently serviced, so the fish worker re-arranged the tank so now we can easily see it XD

  3. Plecostomus are one of my favourite parts of any fishtank. I don’t know why — sometimes the patterns on them mess with my trypophobia but I still love them and they serve such an important purpose in helping keep tank health on point!

Also, I love Riordan, and the Heroes of Olympus series is great. I’d also suggest the Kane chronicles. ^^

    • I am not keen on the Kane Chronicles. It is on my to-read list, but . . . Egyptians mythology isn’t doing it for me. X_X;; I’ll read it one day, even if that means five years later XD;;;

  4. That planners and calendars stash though <3

  5. I never thought that fish could be cute, but the fish in your picture are definitely cute. I like the diversity of this post. You have books, a game, food, and fish. Your stationery is lovely, by the way. :)

    • Yes, I found the fishes to be adorable XD

      And you’re right! This post is very diverse! I’ve got a little bit of everything going on here. Funny how I didn’t notice it until you pointed it out ^^;

  6. Oooh, there’s a sequel! I loved reading Percy Jackson series, so I will definitely check this out. I geek out over Roman and Greek mythology. It’s just so interesting.

Uhmm, hello pork jerky. That looks so tasty! I just breathed really heavily at your stationery haul. Damn – that monthly planner, though.

I am legit laughing so loud at the cute sucker fishes. Loooooook at themmmmmmm! Blesss <3

    • I geek out over those myths, too! Do read the Heroes of Olympus books!

So glad the fish made you laugh XD

  7. J @ Wild Thrift on

That hot pork looks AMAZE! Jerky is on my top favorite foods list for sure.

Does that stationery brand ship to the U.S.? I need a new planner so bad and those are cute! I’ve been meaning to spring for a Filofax for like 5+ years now.

    • Gmarket do ship international, but I think the shipping is very pricey. You can look into them!

  8. I remembered reading a couple of books because I loved them so much! Glad to hear you have books you’ll never get tired of rereading ;). The pork jerky looks delicious. I never had pork jerky itself before but bacon jerky at most, which taste like bacon XD. I’ll try to stop by if I go to Vegas!

The Ardium goodies look so cute!!! They do a really good job at making cute stationery ;). The sucker fish looks interesting. I definitely don’t want my finger anywhere near them!

    • Do get them when you get to Vegas! They are awesome! They are not cheap, but they are worth your moola, I think!

Ardium do make awesome patterns! Love them!

  9. Can I has some of that hot dried pork, please??

  10. Percy Jackson is next on my to-read list, so this makes me even more excited to read them! I’m always wary of sequels with new characters – I was just talking to my brother about this series specifically – so yay for them being good!

Oh my goodness, those calendars and planners are so adorable!

    • I love the cleverness of the Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus books so much. Riordan did a great job weaving in mythology into the modern world. Just absolutely brilliant!

  11. The fish are awesome looking! I love the patterns on their skin. Makes me miss having a fish.

  12. Haha the sucker fish look so cute but hilarious at the same time. xD

I think have to check out Ardium, I have a sudden itch for stationery again even though I promised myself I wouldn’t buy any because I don’t even really use notebooks anymore. :P

I don’t eat pork but the jerky totally reminds me of when I used to chew on beef jerky as a snack during class. Yeah, we were allowed to eat in class haha.

    • That’s cool you were allowed to eat in class XD

      Do check out Ardium! I love, love their products so much! I’m like an Ardium addict now XD;

  13. I had heard about Amnesia before and now that there’s a PC version, I’ve been tempted to get it XD

Ooh, I love all the flower prints on your Ardium stash. I especially like the pink one with white flowers. Those are pretty patterns!

haha, sucker fish are so funny to look at. The smaller one is so cute!

    • Amnesia’s pretty good! I’d give it a try!

I, too, love the pink cherry blossom pattern! I’m normally not fond of pink, but I really like this shade and pattern!

  14. WOW! Those sucker fishes are HUGE!!! I’ve never seen ones so large in real life.

I can’t believe I still haven’t been to Vegas considering how it’s only one state over. But when I do, I’m definitely getting myself some of that hot dried pork! ONE DAY!

Your Ardium goods look so pretty!!

    • The huge one used to belong to someone who cared for it for three years, hence its huge size!

Go to Vegas one day and try the pork! Apparently the hotel’s downtown, so it’d be a easy trek! ^^

  15. I am fangirling. I love love LOVE the Heroes of Olympus books! Team Nico di Angelo forever <3 I enjoyed reading about his chapters with Reyna… Personally, I prefer this series over the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series because I like how the characters are older this time (though the latter was still a VERY good series and still is a must-read for all). I could talk about HoO all day.

My favorite books in the HoO series have got to be MoA and HoH. What was your favorite?

And… Pork jerky! :D Had something like that when I went to Hong Kong and Singapore. It was soooo good.

    • I think I liked the first two books the best, but of the two, I like the second one the most because of Frank and Hazel XD Plus, I do have a fondness for Percy, and I really like how we got to see Camp Jupiter. The first one is great because it introduces us to Leo, and I adore Leo a lot XD He reminds me of Marco from the Animorphs series, and Marco is a favourite of mine as well!

  16. That stationery is beautiful. I love the colours. I used to own way too many notebooks though, so I had to get rid of some when I moved (just so they’d fit on the shelves). I want more though!

Aww I love those sucker fish!
    xxx

    • Yeah, stationery products are so tempting! That’s why I only buy products I will USE. I’m not doing a good job of it, but at least I am not overbuying LOL

  17. Michelle on

I haven’t read that series yet…But I need to finish Percy Jackson first. I’m on the last book.

I’m glad you’re enjoying them! And I’m glad they are highly praised! ^^

    • Finish the last Percy Jackson book! ^^ And then read the sequels! I really had a blast with both series :3

  18. I’d never heard of the The Heroes of Olympus series before this post, I’ll definitely check it out!

Sucker fish look so cute and squishy, too bad they’re fish so you can’t pick them up :(

    • I hope you’ll like them if you do check them out! ^^

      And I am not certain I’d want to touch a fish LOL. Honestly, I am not fond of fishes, but those sucker fishes have wormed their ways into my heart somehow XD;

  19. I really want to read those The Heroes of Olympus books now! Was this the series you mentioned where they go to Bologna? I’m off to the bookshop tomorrow to look at Kindles so if I get one, I will download these!
The Ardium looks lovely, I’m a big fan of delicate floral prints like this. I’m really excited for the end of the year so I can buy a new diary! And awww the sucker fish are so cute!

    • Yes! That’s the series that have them going to Bologna! :D AND OOOOH! I hope you’ll do a blog post about your Kindle if you get one!

  20. I need to pick up a bag of that hot dried pork the next time I go to Vegas! XD

I used to have a small sucker fish when my family had an aquarium. He was my favorite one out of the bunch! :D

    • The pork is highly recommended. Seriously it’s something I’d stock up on if I ever go to Vegas!
