Blogger Dossiers: Jae

Blogger Dossiers

Can’t believe September is already almost over! With the end of the month coming around, it is time for a new Blogger Dossiers post! This month’s featured blogger is Jae! She’s someone I’ve recently started to follow, so I was really thrilled she agreed to be featured. It also gave me a chance to get to know her better. Do check out her blog, as well as her Instagram and her Twitter! Enjoy this post and enjoy getting to know Jae!

Hi, guys! My name is Jae, and I blog over at SCATTERBRAIN. I am Filipino, but I immigrated to the United States to put an end to our 6-year long-distance relationship and live with my husband for good. My interests include writing, reading, food, music, travelling, and taking photos of places my husband and I discover and explore. Such is evident in the things I commonly share in my blog.

Remarkable Recollection

It is my first time living away from my family, so since I left last April, I try to hold onto all of the memories — beautiful or not — I have of them. The most recent of which was our family trip to Bangkok, Thailand last December/January to spend the New Year’s there. It’s truly a time well-spent, and I can’t wait to visit the Philippines again to make new memories with them!

Musical Moment

If you know this song, then you know why I recommend it. If you haven’t heard of it, then take some time to listen — like really listen — to this song’s message. You’re welcome.

Coffee Break Conversation

Who is your all-time favourite fictional character and why?
Belle from The Beauty and the Beast has got to be my all-time favourite. I’ve always been a fan of the Disney Princesses, and I like Belle the most. I think all Disney Princesses are pretty, but I particularly love Belle’s face among others. I adore her so much that at one point, I considered having my ball gown during my 18th birthday designed after hers.

What part of the Philippines would you recommend first-time visitors to visit and why?
Man, this is a tough question. I’ve only been to a few cities beyond Manila, but the best time I had was in Cebu and Bohol. These two are neighbouring cities that you can simply hop on a boat, and cross either of them. Each city boasts one of the best histories and richest cultures in the Philippines that tourists, both local and foreign alike, must not miss out on!

Between the North and South Pole, which would you travel to first and why?
Where most of the penguins are because they’re interesting to watch. Clearly, I’m not certain whether it’s in the Arctic or Antarctic region. Ha!

What is one cause you care deeply about and why?
Environmental advocacies. I know experts have been trying to figure out how to preserve our planet in the most humane way possible, but with the advances in technology come another chance to contribute in destroying it. I did get to experience a fair share of what nature we have today, but it’s definitely not like how it used to be hundreds of years before our existence. I often tend to wonder what this world would look like in the next 50 or even a hundred years.

What are some of your favourite books?
I have plenty, but I’ll leave you with just five (in no particular order):

  • The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom
  • The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
  • Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
  • Angel Falls by Kristin Hannah
  • The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman

  1. Thank you, Tara, for thinking of me for this month’s featured blogger! :)

  2. I’m really glad I started following your blog, Tara, you’re introducing me to fantastic new people and you post really unique content, it’s neat.

I have to say I especially love this sort of column because it shows us an insight into others, and that you’ve a willingness to explore that and promote people; it’s super sweet. <3

    … p.s, Jae is beautiful.

    • Thank you, Drea! :D

    • Aw! I’m glad you’re liking what I’m posting and liking the concept of Blogger Dossiers and whatnot! You don’t know how much that comment means to me! ^^

And YES. Jae is gorgeous! :D

  3. Amazing, beautiful girl with a beautiful character. :) I am fond of the fact that Jae moved to be much closer to the person she loves. I think we may have a similar taste in books, too! I’m definitely going to check out her blog.

    • Why, thank you, Georgie! :)

    • Yay! Do check it out! And I think it is very brave and selfless of her to move to a totally different country to be with who she loves, too! ^^ I’m not certain I could do that myself!

  4. I really love this type of posts. Definitely gonna check her blog! :) Love the way she decided to move to US just to be with her husband. Must be hard for her family in the Philippines, but I’m sure they’ll find ways to still keep in touch :)

I am also a fan o f Belle’s! haha Been a fan of Disney Princesses since 1996 hahaha.

    • I had major separation anxiety weeks before I left for the US! I’ve never been this far away from my family, so it was difficult! We do get in touch via iMessage/FaceTime/Viber, but it’s still different from actually being with them. :(

Isn’t Belle the most gorgeous Disney Princess? ;)

    • Belle is the best! I love the fact that she’s a bookworm, too! :D *high fives both of you* You guys got good taste! ^^

  5. This is such a great post and wonderful way to discover new bloggers. Jae seems like a really interesting person. :D

  6. YAYAYAYAYAY JAE!! Hahaha Penguins are in the Antarctic. We’ve got polar bears in the Arctic. :) It’s a win win!!

    • I realized too late that I should’ve consulted you BEFORE I finalized my submission to Tara. Hahaha! Wherever the penguins are!

    • Aw, polar bears! Penguins! I love both, so hrrrrrrm. I’d not sure which to visit first, either!

  7. Beautiful photos!

Aw, I can’t imagine what it would be like to uproot from where I’ve lived my WHOLE life. At least she can hold onto the memories and make new ones.

Cebu has actually been on my list of places to visit for a while – that and Boracay! TFIOS is one my favourite books too :)

Will definitely be checking out her blog!

    • I seriously wouldn’t wish it to anyone! Sometimes, I just think of it as a way to grow on my own. I mean, I’ve lived with family my whole life; it’s about damn time I figure out how to be a wife.

I’ve been to both! Between Cebu and Boracay, I enjoyed the beaches in Cebu more! Cebu is more family-friendly than Boracay, in my opinion! TFIOS is a major-heartbreaker.

Thank you, Chynna! And thank you for following on Twitter and Instagram, too! :)

    • Yeah, I am not sure if I can uproot myself, either! I love Korea too much to try and leave, but I may have to leave one day, and I am not looking forward to that!

  8. I love Jae! We often have conversations and I enjoy them! I always enjoy her posts about traveling in California and in general. I love her encouragement, to be honest. She makes me feel like I can do anything, like get a license to drive, no matter how scary it seems. Glad you did this Blogger Dossier on her this time. She deserves it! Everyone that is interviewed deserves it!

  9. Bhairavee on

I’m very much impressed that Jae showed the courage of going to a new and totally foreign country just to end the long distance relationship. It’s definitely not a piece of cake.

Tara, I loved your feature, and it helps in getting to know new new people in the blogosphere.

I’m gonna check your blog right away Jae

    • I’m glad you’re loving this feature :) I was hesitant to do it a couple of months ago, but now I’m glad this is working out so well!

    • Thank you, Bhairavee! It was nerve-wracking, but totally worth it. :)

  10. Thank you for introducing me to Jae! I love the photograph of the tree, it’s beautiful. The colours and the orange glow are stunning. Belle is the best Disney Princess! She’s not scared or intimidated by the views of the people in the village around her, and she has great hair =p
I’d very much like to read The Time Keeper, but until I can get my hands on it i’m heading to Jae’s blog to read there instead!

    • Yay! I’m glad to hear that this is introducing people to bloggers they haven’t known before! That excites me because this means this column is working, so whoo hoo!

    • Thank you, Uglyfish! And yes, Belle is the bomb dot com. Haha! ;) The Time Keeper was a really awesome read!

  11. Aww Jae, I felt butterflies when I learned that you were in an LDR for six years. I’m so glad you’re with Roan now! I love seeing your Snapchats. <3

    • That’s extreme dedication to be in a LDR that long! I don’t know if I’d be able to do it like she did!

    • Sometimes, we both still wonder how we did it, but here we are now. :) Aww, thank you, Raisa! I seldom post on Snapchats lately because I’ve been binge-watching on Netflix hahaha

  12. Wow, that first photo is absolutely stunning. What a beautiful person, inside and out! I can’t imagine living so far away from my family, but I’m sure being with her husband for good makes it all worth it. :’) Thanks for the introduction Tara, I need to go follow her blog now! :)
