My Favourite Things: January 2015

My Favourite Things is a precursor to TC’s Treasures. Starting in November 2016, all My Favourite Things posts will be known as TC’s Treasures.

Before I continue with this post, I want to wish my fellow bloggers and readers a happy new year! I wish you guys all the best in 2015 :D

Another month, another “My Favourite Things” post :) Warning — this post has been hijacked by The Hobbit.

Thorin, Fili, and Kili

My Hobbit-y marathon occurred. I watched the extended edition of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, and I watched The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies three times in theatre. Watching these adaptations has pretty much made me a huge fan of Thorin Oakenshield, Fili, and Kili. Men with beards never really did it for me, but these three have convinced me that men with beards are HAWT. *swoons* Oh, and Richard Armitage’s performance of Thorin Oakenshield? Perfect. Just, GUH. I also have a fondness for Bofur, Dwalin, and Nori, but the heirs of Durin are currently making me swoon like a lovesick fool.

Another thing I’ve been obsessed with? Bagginshield, aka Thorin Oakenshield being paired up with Bilbo Baggins romantically. Granted, I’ve liked them since September, but I now really like them after seeing the films. And don’t get me started on the obviousness of this pairing in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Two words: ACORN AND MITHRIL. Oh, and I am also totally digging the other pairings like Bofur/Bilbo, Bofur/Fili, Dwalin/Nori, and so forth so on. :D

Remember my love for Thorin Oakenshield/Richard Armitage above? Well, when I heard him and the company sing this song, I was smittened. Head over heel smittened. I just absolutely adore this song to the point I keep singing it and trying to memorise it to the point one of my friends just starts laughing when this comes in my head and I sing it. Seriously, I haven’t been affected by a song in ages.

Then you have this song. I love this arrangement so much. I love how this piece combines the theme of Erebor and Thorin Oakenshield, and with the choir singing in the background, and remembering the scene this was played in . . . GUH. This piece is just the perfect theme for the heirs of Durin. Just, my mind is completely blown away. Ironic since most of the OST for this trilogy really didn’t do much for me, but this song and the previous song are my absolute favourites.

And that’s my favourite things for this month’s entry. If you really want to know just how obsessed I am with The Hobbit, just go to my Tumblr to just see how crazy I’ve been these past few weeks . . .

  1. I loved The Hobbit! My favorite one was the last movie, but I enjoyed every one of them nonetheless. For some reason my favorite character was Kili. It’s fun browsing memes and gifs of the Dwarves from The Hobbit, it’s too bad I don’t have a tumblr to use for fangirling.

  2. I still need to watch BOTFA! I miss Thorin so much. :’D I might do what you did and have a marathon before catching it in the theater!

  3. Gah I still need to watch the whole Hobbit trilogy! I absolutely adored the book, and I still haven’t yet seen if the movies meet my expectations…! Will probably end up doing a home marathon on the couch, LOL.

  4. I really want to go watch the last Hobbit movie, but no one wants to go see it with me. I’m so grumpy. I love Fili and Kili so much; the level of brotherliness is so high and I simply cannot handle it. And Richard Armitage’s face certainly doesn’t help!

  5. Huhuhu I cried watching BOFTA. I enjoyed watching it a lot though, even the heart-wrenching parts. I thought Richard Armitage took on the role of Thorin in this movie spectacularly. He’s so talented. I accidentally stumbled on some of the audiobooks he narrates because they’re romance novels too and it was a very enjoyable experience haha.

  6. Sooo your post is incorrectly titled. Did you mean to write, “MY FAVORITE THINGS FROM THE HOBBIT”? Hahaha I loved the movie, but I haven’t seen the rest of them. You’ve renewed my interest though. I need to be careful about these things because I tend to binge watch the crap out of things.

So what’s next on your agenda? A LOTR marathon of every LOTR movie + the Hobbit trilogy? That’d be one special party hah!

  7. the last hobbit movie was amazing! i’m not a massive huge tolkien fan – surprise? i know. i mean, i know his books are amazing, his universe is amazing but you know… i’ve always been more of a hogwarts kid at heart. i remember the harry potter universe a lot more than tolkien’s :P funny how people always compare them and make a battling game between the two.

that scene with kili and tauriel was sad, man :( i know i said i don’t remember almost every of tolkien verse but tauriel x kili, mannnn… *howls*

i have a friend who’s so obsessed with tolkien’s verse. it’s like, if i’m a potterhead, she’s definitely of the kid from middle earth – what a complete friendship haha and she’s obsessed with martin freeman too, said bilbo baggins is the sunshine of her life HAHA makes sense.

  8. It’s amazing how The Hobbit has been a big hit, even after Lord of the Rings! ~Amazing~. I’m not a fan of men with facial hair; I’m still looking for some convincing!! I still haven’t dive into the sensation of the series yet :(. Same goes for Harry Potter…. And everything else *o*.

Thanks for sharing one of your favorite things ;).

When crap movies like guardians if galaxy and hunger games can have rating more then 8 in imdb i just can not believe how such incredibly directed presented flims like hobbit can not have 9.5. I waited a year for this one. i agree that end is some thing which i think could have been more spectacular but over all i spend 5 dollar here in south-asia for such a fantastic movie.
