Confessions of a Blogger

This post is old, so what you see here may not reflect my current opinion and mindset, certain information may be outdated, and links may be broken.

Since Georgie and Cat did it, I decided to do it, too :)

When did you first start blogging and why?
My very first blog was started sometime in 2001 on Pita or something like that. I started a LiveJournal in June 2001, but I didn’t really do much there. My official blog started in September 2001. I decided to start blogging because it looked cool, and since I already kept paper diaries, I saw blogging as keeping an online diary.

Have you had any past online presence?
Yes, Prior to, I had TC standing for Tara-Chan, my online alias. I wasn’t very creative with my alias, eh? But TCK was my collective, but then in 2002, I decided to get ACnet and combine it into a blog/collective.

When did you become serious about your blog?
I was serious about my blog since September 2001, so pretty much from the beginning!

What was your first blog post?
My first blog post was just about me raving about how my new blog was awesome on September 4, 2001. It’s not online any more, but I kept the old pages!

What have been your biggest challenges blogging?
As of right now? Finding the time to blog and being in the mood to do so, too! I’m telling you — grad school is a killer :(

What is the most rewarding thing about blogging?
For me it’s the fact that I have a blog that I find it rewarding, and the fact that it’s a self-hosted blog, not like a LiveJournal or a Blogger blog. I remember being really excited when I figured out how to have a blog on my domain, and that moment of proudness hasn’t gone away for me yet.

What is the most discouraging thing about blogging?
Not getting comments, but I am at that point where I don’t care about comment counts. I’ll blog for my own sake!

What is your lasting inspiration or motivation?
Blogging for me is very intrinsic, so I like to blog about stuff that interests me, and I am hoping that once grad school’s done, I can blog more!

What is your blogging dirty little secret?
I don’t think I have a blogging dirty secret. Never really thought about that, to be honest.

What is your current goal as a blogger?
To try and blog regularly!

Have you learned or become passionate about anything through blogging that caught you by surprise?
I discovered that I don’t mind baking and doing some craftsy stuff? Hrm, it’s really hard to say.

  1. Aaaaahhhh I think I’ll do this post next!! Hahaha, I’m seeing it in many places I go to read hehe.

That’s great that you were passionate about blogging since you begun. I had been blogging on and off and changing so many domains until I found ‘the one’. Keep it up!

  2. I find that the goal of trying to blog regularly is in deed a hard goal to maintain! It’s not a hard goal to achieve, but just to keep it going on that. I hope you achieve it! I will be right behind you on that!!

I also discovered baking and lots of DIY things through blogging that I have appreciated over the years. I would always just spend money and buy everything but things like knitting your own eternity scarves, small gifts, baking, etc. they’re wonderful to share!

  3. I get the feeling if I tried to answer any of those it would be boring because it was so long ago that I started to blog. I can’t really remember any of the reasons hahaha

  4. I agree with your goals and motivations regarding blogging. As a fellow grad student, I think that once we get more time to actually write out our thoughts, our posts will flow naturally. I can attest to that right now, since I’m already blogging more during the winter break than I did during the semester. :P
