The Vegemite Story

This post is old, so what you see here may not reflect my current opinion and mindset, certain information may be outdated, and links may be broken.

It’s been a few years since I’ve first heard of Vegemite. I’ve finally tried it today. One of my friends gave me some, and I ate it on a buttered toast.

It’s . . . interesting! The best way to describe its flavour is to say it’s Korean dwaenjang (soybean paste) meets soy sauce.

Interestingly enough, I let my parents tried some. My mum and I both agreed that it’s edible, but not the best thing in the world. On the other hand, my dad seems to really like it. He declared it was better than peanut butter.

All in all, this was an amusing experience!

  1. Well at least you think it’s edible, mOst think it’s awful after first tastin it.

  2. Yeah, that was pretty much my experience too. A lot of people eat it over here but I can only handle it in small doses. I think it is an acquired taste, really.

  3. I think it’s the saltiness that catches people off-guard. I agree; it’s edible… in small quantities. :P

  4. I’ve never heard of it before. ^^;;
