PlayStation 3 or Blu-Ray Player

This post is old, so what you see here may not reflect my current opinion and mindset, certain information may be outdated, and links may be broken.

I’ve been busy, busy, busy! Must be because of the holidays coming up. Who knows.

All I know for sure right now is that my DVD player is pretty much dying. Therefore, I need a new player, but I’ve been thinking about upgrading to a Blu-Ray player.

I just can’t decide if I want a PlayStation 3 (which has DVD/Blu-Ray/Game capabilities) for $300 or a Blu-Ray player for anywhere between $80 to $300.

As a gamer and a film watcher, I’m kind of stuck. I must think about this. *ponders* Advices and suggestions are welcomed!

  1. Are there any games that you actually want to play on the PS3? Bonus if they’re only on the PS3? :P

  2. I was stuck on the same issue for awhile, but then I finally just went for the Blu-Ray Player. The main reason being that I know that I don’t have the time to be playing more games so no need to encourage myself to do something I don’t have the time for (and the player was by far cheaper).

    • *nods* I can see why just getting a Blu-ray player would make sense, but as a gamer . . . the PS3’s calling my name!

  3. I think that’s a tough call for anyone. But you just need to decide if you’ll actually use the PS3 for gaming. If you are, then I’d go ahead and buy it — it’s ultimately the better deal if you are going to be playing games on it.

  4. I would get the PS3 but I’d definitely be playing games too. I guess it comes down to if you truly think you’d play any games in the future or not.

  5. PS3! We got a free blue ray when we bought our TV, but then we also ended up buying a PS3, so now our blue ray player just sits there unused. :(
