Computer Naming Scheme

This post is old, so what you see here may not reflect my current opinion and mindset, certain information may be outdated, and links may be broken.

I am so lame. While I was backing up my files onto my external HD, I decided that since I’d already named the HDs, why not name the actual computer. XD So I looked up “habit” in the thesaurus and one of the words struck out to me: Praxis. So here’s the breakdown of my computer to those who are more or less technical geeks.

Computer
Praxis

Specifications: Dell, Intel, Pentium 4 CPU 3.20GHZ, 1GB of RAM

Accessories: Dell 19″ Monitor, Logitech Wireless Mouse/Keyboard, HP Officejet 6210 All-In-One, Altec Lansing Speakers, and Super Dual Box USB Gamepad Converter for two controllers. (aka Smart Joy)

The Drives
A:: Obsolete (Floppy Drive)
C:: Master LC (74GB)
D:: Can’t name (CD Drive)
E:: Can’t name (DVD/CD-RW Drive)
F:: Rip Off (127GB)
G:: Slanty (232GB Western Digital External HD)

Name Meanings
Praxis: Considering that being on this computer is a very addicting habit…the name fits.

Obsolete: Duh… I don’t even use the damn thing, so hence the perfect name for it.

Master LC: Master LOW CAPACITY. Come on… compare to the other HD I got, the C drive is the smallest one in terms of capacity.

D and E: Why it won’t let me name the damn thing pisses me off.

Rip Off: It was supposed to be 150GB… but after the installation process, it ripped me off a whole 23GB! Grrrrr…

Slanty: No matter how I put it on the damn stand, it slants at a 5 degree angle! Appropriate name, eh?

Conclusion
Yes, I am lame. I have no life. My brain comes up with the weirdest thing. I’m a naming geek. I think those are some awesome conclusions to come from this entry.

    Hahaha! That’s great! I didn’t know praxis was a synonym for habit…praxis happens to be the name of the certification exam for teachers in the States. I wonder if there’s any correlation ^o^

    It’s good to name your electronics!

    My laptop is called Tranquil while my iPod is called Treasure.

  3. You actually named your computer praxis? That’s pretty cool. I haven’t even begin to name my computer anything. Simply because its’ my dad’s computer, adn I’m using it. Of course it’s just to kill off the boredom but that will soon change in june when I’m off to school…hopefully I can go to school. Anyways, the domain and the layouts look really great. Love them.

  4. You sure hit the nail on the door with that topic. I agree with you though I find it rather annoying at times.

  7. Wow…that’s a lot of space…and 19″ monitor o_O I only have a seventeen inch…lucky!

  8. Well; for one I like you and your personality, and two I just like coming to your domain. If you want me to stop I will..
